As a woman, I know that we all long for radiant-young looking skin and will go to any length to reach perfection. But it is now time to put away that expensive, chemical-laden moisturizer and head to the local fruit and vegetable shop! Scientifically proven, these 5 super-foods will put you on the right track to youthful and radiant skin.

1.Orange is the new pink

Stack those cupboards full of Orange vegetables: Carrots, Pumpkin, Sweet Potato and Squash. Why? These orange colored vegetables contain high levels of beta carotene which converts to Vitamin A. In our body, vitamin A is one of the most important nutrients for skin integrity. There are also many other health bonuses from consuming Orange vegetables, like fighting breast cancer and boosting the immune system.

2. Berry Nice

Beautiful and yummy berries like: Strawberries, blackcurrants, blueberries and raspberries contain high levels of Vitamin C. This vitamin is particularly important for the skin as it is vital for the formation of collagen, which gives our skin structure and elasticity. Vitamin C is also an antioxidant which protects our cells from damage.

3. Oil it up – Oily Fish

Oily fish such as: Salmon, Sardines, Mackerel and Trout, are all jam packed with high levels of omega-3, which is fatty acids. It has been recognized that these fatty acids play an essential role in skin structure and the appearance of skin. Basically, what they do is they help to maintain the skin’s barrier function and prevent moisture loss. Impressive, no? But what if you don’t like fish? Not a problem! Many Pharmacies stock fish oil supplements. So no excuse to not have amazing skin!

Although these are 3 of my must-have superfoods for radiant skin, there are still other superfoods I would recommend. These include: Avocados, Pumpkin Seeds, Kale, Broccoli and Oats. Throw away those harsh chemical products and see the change with these skin-perfecting superfoods!
